About Me

In October 2011 I made the decision to retire from a successful Hockey career to peruse a new sporting endeavour . . . . Triathlon!!. Through this blog I am wanting to capture my development, progression, the changes, and challenges I have experienced on the way to trying to be successful in an entirely different sport dynamic. I hope you enjoy the read.

Game 8 - Amstelveen

Amstelveen; last season demoted from the overgansklasse thus meaning these guys know how to play hockey. that was the excpectation with the forecast that they would be the first team to take points from us we wre determined to ensure that would not happen.

The first half we put alot of effort in but were nuable to convert many of the opportunities that we had. wether it was the turf (retarded sand base) or thier defence it just seemed like it was going to be one of those days where things werent going to go our way. half time 0-0. 15 min into the second half we recieved a shock against the run going down 1-0 putting us under pressure. not even a smooth move from myself and pete from the restart putting him in the cicle 1 on 1 with the keeper could level the scores. finally a good strike from koen levelled it up and with less than 10 min to go Pieter put us up 2-1. Much to our relief after the ref disallowed a goal 2 min earlier in some very unusual circumstances. We managed to finish it off with some close scares from the Amstelveen attack and hold on for a gritty 2-1 win, keeping the unbeaten record intact and our spot on top of the table for another week.
