About Me

In October 2011 I made the decision to retire from a successful Hockey career to peruse a new sporting endeavour . . . . Triathlon!!. Through this blog I am wanting to capture my development, progression, the changes, and challenges I have experienced on the way to trying to be successful in an entirely different sport dynamic. I hope you enjoy the read.

Game 10 Alliance

Another Game, another expectation and another Dutch experience, this time against Alliance. With most of the match previews from the local "hockey uitslagen" had us winning by a few all we hoped was that they were correct. Sunday came and the day started early heading down to watch Alicia play for the Dames 2 (they lost 2-1). But too our game, it started off ok maybe a little shaky with Alliance having some really good scoring opportunities before we netted two which took us into the break 2-0.

The second half was a little more event ful than the first. Alliance came out strong to net an early goal making the score 2-1. They played ok however we still had alot of possession and created opportunities which led to me finally earning my keep, bagging 2 goals in 10 min, one squeeze from the right hand side of the circle over the keepers shoulder and the other a tap in from the post.....Riedy, all that yelling didnt fall on deaf ears :-). Thus taking the score to 4-1. Amongst the excitement Alliance proceeded to recieve one red and 2 yellow cards. The red for calling the ref a cheat, one yellow when a player forgot he was playing hockey and slid into pete taking the ball with his legs and the other to guy for complaining about it......for at least 5 min.
For me quite an eventful game, with the two goals and then going from centre forward to centre back for the last 10 min. All for the team and thankfully we pulled our way through and took the points in what looked like an easy scoreline. This made the 5000 beers the boys put down at the Aussie themed TD party tase even sweeter. on that ive included a picture of the boys taring up the cartouche clubhouse dance floor.

Enjoy.

Daniel.
