About Me

In October 2011 I made the decision to retire from a successful Hockey career to peruse a new sporting endeavour . . . . Triathlon!!. Through this blog I am wanting to capture my development, progression, the changes, and challenges I have experienced on the way to trying to be successful in an entirely different sport dynamic. I hope you enjoy the read.

12 Down - 10 to Go!!!!

This weeks match saw us line up against local rivals from Wassenaar....Kievieten.  After last week it was hoped that the nerves of our defence had left us but only the result would tell.  The day started with a bit of a shock finding out that we were going to be paying against a spirited opponent after one of the guys in thier team had lost his brother to a sporting accident earlier in the week.  Spiritied sums it up and that is how it played out.

We started off strong creating loads of opportuinities.  Unfortunately for us we let some easy chances slide and after 10 mins we only led 1-0 through a sloppy corner conversion.  As expected Kieveten started thier fightback levelling through an unlucky deflection midway through the first half though keeping calm and putting together some good play we put ourselves back in front making it 2-1 heading into the break.

The second half saw us come out a play a more patient style of hockey, while maintaining the same intensity that we saw early in the game.  Gaining confidence it was only a matter of time before we netted a further two goals after 10 mins making it 4-1 and tightening the screws on the match.  Another unlucky touch inside the circle saw it go to 4-2 but that would be the end.  Playing some quality hockey and full credit to the guys we closed out the game with another 3 goals finishing off a good day at the office 7-2.  More importantly finding the form that we had achieved last November.

Now 12 down and 10 to go.  Still underfeated and lets hope we can keep it that way.  Next week back at home to HDS.  Last time we met it was a 10-0 win but i have a feeling it may not be that easy this time around.
