About Me

In October 2011 I made the decision to retire from a successful Hockey career to peruse a new sporting endeavour . . . . Triathlon!!. Through this blog I am wanting to capture my development, progression, the changes, and challenges I have experienced on the way to trying to be successful in an entirely different sport dynamic. I hope you enjoy the read.

Noordwijkerhout Triathlon

Well better late than never.  This bolg is a little behind but at least i got there.  Well onto it.  Bing close to
home this one was a good one for us, meaning a good sleep and a relatively short drive.  As per ususal the conditions were either one or the other...Windy or Wet, and im still not sure which one i prefer.

The Swim took place in like a lagoon or lake just outside of the town of Norrdwijkerhout.  A little different out and back swim.  Im not sure but i think it was a little longer than the 1km given the large bow in the buoy line.  But nonetheless i was out of the water and onto the bike in around 14 mins.  While Alicia had a good swim out in about 18 mins.

The bike course was pretty good on seasled roads and bike paths, however the Wind was crazy! I would give anythig for a race where the wind speeds are below 30km/h.  Anyway i ride the 42km in about 1:05 getting off the bike in 4th and Alicia off at 1:39 (about 1:18 on the bike).   Heading out on the run i wasnt that sure how it was all going to go.  Mainly due to the leg injury id been carrying for the last 4 weeks.  A reasonable result inthe end finishing with just on a 41 min run and 6th overall, contrary to what the results say....somehow the guy i beat in the sprint finished was given a 25sec  time in front of me?? I suppose that is what happens when they have manual timing.  But anyway a good race.  The best result of the cam from Leesh as she ran in with a 46 min 10km and finished on the podium for her second race in a row.  not a bad effort.
